Happy 75th Birthday to our CEO and Founder, Bill Hollander!

After JILA, Bill founded @High Precision Devices (HPD), which designed and developed scientific instruments for universities, industry, and government agencies – including NASA – National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).  HPD’s instruments were part of Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) isolation platform – helping to prove Albert Einstein’s gravitational wave theory and leading to the 2017 Nobel Prize awarded to Rainer Weiss, Kip S. Thorne, and Barry C. Barish.  Bill sold HPD to FormFactor Inc. in 2020.

Bill’s work on quantitative MRI phantoms began in 2008 through a collaboration with NIST’s Dr. Stephen Russek, ISMRM and other leaders in the field to develop a relaxometry phantom to measure T1, T2, and Proton Density.  Over the years, Bill has continued to collaborate with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), @QIBA (now QMIC – Quantitative Medical Imaging Coalition), FDA, National Cancer Institute (NCI), University of California, San Francisco, University of Minnesota , New York University and others to develop custom and product phantoms (diffusion, breast, prostate, preclinical, and hybrid, etc.).  Through Bill’s design and engineering expertise, CaliberMRI continues to support researchers and industry leaders focused on qMRI, data quality, R&D, and AI/ML testing and development – all key for the future of imaging and precision medicine.

With his curiosity, creativity and kindness, Bill is a role model for all of us at CaliberMRI.  Happy Birthday, and thank you for your leadership!
